This year I wanted to create more meaningful work and to use my photography as a tool for conservation. My intention was to create a series of images and use them to try to make a difference focussing on environmental issues. This is the start of that process and I’m super excited to be sharing with you this project that I have been working on the past few months. The Great Barrier Reef is under serious threat and desperately needs our help. I’m proud to be partnering with Sea Shepherd Australia, a non-profit, marine conservation organization to raise awareness around the challenges the earth’s oceans are facing and what we can do to protect the coral reefs. For the whole of November, I’ll be donating 100% of the proceeds from all print sales which will go to help fund Sea Shepherd’s campaigns to protect and conserve the oceans. You can purchase A2 sized eco-friendly posters exclusive to the Great Barrier Reef Project starting from $30 all the way up to any fine art prints listed on my online print store.
“Climate change is the greatest threat to the Great Barrier Reef and coral reefs worldwide.”
The Great Barrier Reef is already experiencing the consequences of climate change through rising sea temperatures, leading to coral bleaching that has impacted 80 percent of the reef over the last two years. Combined with other factors that are putting the coral reefs under stress, this is having a devastating impact on the ecosystem and its marine life.
Those of you that have been fortunate enough to visit and experience the Great Barrier Reef before will know what I am talking about when I say how incredibly diverse and beautiful it is. Seeing the Great Barrier Reef from the air gave me an understanding of just how immense the reef is. The GBR is the largest living structure made up by living organisms in the world. The reef can even be seen from space and is home to a large number of marine life. For those that haven’t visited before, I hope these images give you an insight into the beauty of this natural wonder. Coral reefs are one of the most important and diverse ecosystems on the planet. The oceans are Earth’s life support system. These places will only continue to exist if we protect them and show them the respect they deserve. Together we can make a difference. So let’s work together to protect this beautiful world.
